Here I am going from summer to fall and then the winter comes.
There are many seasons for our planet and our bodies. Through all the seasons the most important thing is to keep your body happy, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
It is a lot easier to do that when your body has been looked after. When you feed it well, but not too well! When you exercise your body and look after it as well as you would your beloved pet.
As the saying goes, if you do not use it, you lose it.
How to use your body can be a tricky question. There are a million exercise books, regimes and videos.
I think the main thing with exercise is to do something that you enjoy or make it so you enjoy it. Exercise has to be tailored to your psyche. It is also important to note when you get bored with a regime and need to switch. What other people do is for them to do. Always check with your body first, to see if it is in fact something that it wants.
How do you do this?
In your mind ask your body what exercise it wants to do for its health and wellbeing. Usually the first thing that comes to mind is the answer.
All my life I have liked to run. Or jog these days.
To be outside in the healing light and air, to see the scenery pass me by. It has been a consistent support and encouragement for my body to keep going. Think of what you enjoy doing – walking, rebounding, playing golf etc.
The next most important thing is to set a time even if it is only 10 minutes a day. Every bit counts.
Many days I only get 10 – 15 minutes of exercise in. It can be anything depending on how I feel, for example aerobic, yoga, stretching or weights. Ideally I like 30 minutes a day.
The exercise can be spread out during the day – five minutes here – ten there.
Just let your body know you are looking after it, as well as using it for all your to do list.
