There are so many things to do in your life. Feed yourselves, clean yourselves, house yourselves, work to have money to feed, clean and house yourselves. Stave off loneness with friends, family and television. Stave off fear with knowledge reliable and unreliable.
Then somewhere in there if we give ourselves a moment to think we wonder where the time has gone and if we are truly happy. Some of us may turn to drugs of one form or another, legal drugs such as pharmaceutical, alcohol, cigarettes and illegal drugs to dull the questions, uncertainty and fear.
It does not sound like a very happy picture does it? Is it your picture or something you may have taken on?
As humans we are never perfect – that is part of our blessing – always striving for more and reach new levels of being. The difficulty comes when we expect to be perfect now, and so are disappointed.
Often the action you are taking at the moment is clouded by the actions you want to take which are lined up in your head. Neither the current action nor the list gets the attention it deserves. This situation fails to give you peace of mind and a sense of accomplishment, i.e. joy in what you are doing and satisfaction in your daily life.
There are numerous solutions – living in the moment, meditating etc. However right now I am talking about a different solution.
Everything we do is a decision we make. We may feel like we have been forced into it – but it is still our decision.
What would happen if you decided that everything you did was important?
That washing dishes, going to work, talking with a friend, making money were all equally important. I am suggesting that those items on the lists in your head were all equally important. You could relax with whatever you are doing because whatever you are doing is important.
You may fear that you will sit and watch TV or YouTube all day if you decided on this mode of action. You do not have to worry about that. Life always gives you a reason to move and change activities – even if it is going to the bathroom!
Try it for an hour or a day or even a minute. It is really quite freeing to realize everything you do is important.
Then you can start using your intuition and seeing what you want to do next. Your life begins to flow in a different way- and you still get things done that are on that long mental list – just with a sense of accomplishment and importance instead of fear, stress and lack of satisfaction.
